In a video posted on his Instagram account, actor Mathieu Kassovitz revealed his injuries following his motorcycle accident, and thanked his fans for the support he received.

A week following his serious motorcycle accident on a circuit in Essonne, Mathieu Kassovitz once once more gave his news from his hospital bed. In a video posted on his Instagram account this Sunday, the actor first gave his full support to Moroccans following the terrible earthquake which hit the south of the country and left more than 2,100 dead, before recounting his accident in more detail.

“I had a motorcycle accident on a racing circuit. I am a motorcycle enthusiast. (…) I was offered to go on a circuit, with a wetsuit. My daughter is a motorcycle fan, so I brought her with my son. We had a great riding session and at the end of the day, (…) I took a turn too wide, I was afraid of falling, I put the bike back upright and I hit the safety rail,” he said.

He then revealed his injured leg, covered in bruises. “I have the femur that was replaced with a titanium rod,” he explained. He also showed his foot, crossed by several titanium pins “to hold the foot because [sa] ankle is completely pulverized. The actor thinks he will be able to walk once more in six months despite these impressive injuries.

Mathieu Kassovitz took advantage of this video to salute the work of the caregivers who took care of him. “What is happening in French hospitals is absolutely incredible. The fact of being able to enter a hospital without giving any papers, without anything, without any questions asked, you are treated. (…) This is truly part of our French pride. We understand why we pay so much taxes,” he stressed.

The 56-year-old actor and director also thanked all his fans, his loved ones and all the people who supported him and sent him messages following his accident.
