“Mathieu Cafaro to Extend Adventure with Saint-Etienne – Possible Setback for Ronny Deila’s Plan for New Wingers at Standard”

If Ronny Deila is looking for wingers for next season, he will not be able to count on the Frenchman Mathieu Cafaro, who should extend the adventure on the side of Saint-Etienne.

Standard has validated its first objective of finishing the classic phase in the top 8 and is now fighting to get 5th place, synonymous with qualification for the preliminary rounds of the Conference League. Ronny Deila is not yet entirely certain that he will still be on the edge of the Meuse next season and is awaiting guarantees on the core and the transfer window.

The Norwegian coach has already said he wants to see new wingers join his squad and Mathieu Cafaro, loaned to Saint-Etienne, might have been one of them. But at the start of the season, the tone rose between the two men, who no longer seem to want to work together.

On June 30, Mathieu Cafaro will be done with his loan to ASSE and will be back at Sclessin… very temporarily. The 26-year-old would be highly coveted by our neighbors but should extend the adventure, and therefore definitely belong to Saint-Etienne next season. According “Progress“, the player’s purchase option would be valued at €500,000, double what Standard had paid to secure his services.

Another former Standard and loaned by Everton, Niels Nkounkou is the real revelation of the second half of the season of the Greens. He too should extend the adventure to Sainté.
