This Wednesday morning, the police found Mathias Janssens. This 9-year-old boy had been missing since Tuesday 3 p.m.
A helicopter and tracking dogs were sent to the scene. Around 10 a.m., the police converged on Chemin de Mons and an ambulance was sent to the scene.
The good news came a few minutes later: Mathias was found safe and sound.
In slight hypothermia
The authorities officially communicated at the end of the morning on the circumstances of the disappearance and the state of health of Mathias. He suffers from mild hypothermia.
The federal police, civil protection and forces from the Sylle and Dendre police zone and four neighboring zones were mobilized for the search. The commune of Brugelette has also made municipal workers available.
It was the owner of land on Chemin de Mons who drew the attention of investigators to this area because there is a river nearby. Mathias was also found standing with his feet in the water at this location. ‘We are surrounded by exceptional teams and I underline this effective partnership,’ said Mons – Tournai King’s Prosecutor Vincent Macq.
