Former ski star Mauro Caviezel has had some moving months. After retiring, he has now celebrated his wedding.

Bern – The winter sports stars are currently preparing for the coming season. The basis for a successful winter is laid in summer, so there is no time for vacations and long periods of relaxation. Mauro Caviezel, on the other hand, will no longer have to complete any hard training sessions because he has announced his retirement from active competitive sports.

Ski star in a roller coaster of emotions: End of career after injury

At the beginning of last season he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a fall in Lake Louise. It was the Swiss’s first race in two years. Caviezel had to pause for so long because he had previously suffered a traumatic brain injury in January 2021. His return to the slopes then became the ski racer’s nightmare. Because of this injury, he ended his career.

“I’m fine after my recent injury. Unfortunately not good enough to crash down the tracks of the upcoming World Cup stations. I have always given everything for my passion – ski racing – always looking for the limit and pushing the limits of my body. With a clear head, a heavy heart and after careful consideration, I have now come to the conclusion that the right time has come for me to retire as an active ski racer,” he wrote on his Instagram channel.

“The life school of ski racing shaped me, formed me, taught me and made me the person I am today. I’m indescribably grateful for the successes, the emotions and the friendships that have developed over the many years!” Caviezel continues, who is looking forward to life away from the ski slopes: “I’m now excited about what the future will bring and I’m looking forward to it looking forward to the next chapter with new challenges.”
