The “window layout” that appeared for the first time in the new features of Windows 11 can be said to have completely broken the past users’ habits of operating Windows, and has given a new meaning to the word “window”.

Through the window layout function, users can easily divide any application on the screen, arrange them to be displayed in pre-planned designated areas, and scale them to appropriate sizes, quickly arranging multiple windows neatly and avoiding overlap. In the past, similar window layout functions might be achieved through Microsoft PowerToys plug-ins, but following being built-in and integrated into Windows 11, the overall operation method has become more intuitive, and work efficiency has naturally improved even more.

Step 1. In principle, the window layout function can be applied to any application; first, move the mouse to the “Maximize/Minimize” button in the upper right corner.

Step 2. Then wait for one second, and the window layout function will be suspended. The current official version has a total of four layouts to choose from.

Step 3. After the window is suspended, move the mouse to the desired window layout. When the color of the position turns darker, click the mouse to apply the layout.

Step 4. After applying the layout, the full-screen image will be displayed as shown in the attached picture. If there are other windows open at this time, you can apply the layout to other specified locations by clicking on it.

Step 5. The window layout can be left blank, or a corresponding number of windows can be opened to fill the entire screen. Note that the windows will not overlap. If overlap is possible, the layout must be reselected.
