Mastering GPS Navigation: A Must-Have Skill for Practical Driving Tests in Flanders

2023-10-03 07:50:05

In Flanders, since October 1, it is compulsory to drive following the indications of a GPS as part of the practical driving test. Candidates must be able to use the navigation device smoothly and demonstrate that they are able to respect the signage while following the instructions of the device, reports RTL. They can use their GPS or a free application on their smartphone. For those who do not have a device, the examiner will need to provide one.

This change takes place in a context of technological developments but also of numerous works which block the streets or cause a change in signaling. It is therefore important that future drivers are able to drive while paying attention to the directions.

This is not yet the case in Wallonia and Brussels. In Wallonia, examiners already have the authorization but not the obligation to evaluate a candidate on their mastery of GPS.
