During the first week, the participants of MasterChef 2023, they faced their first major elimination from the show. Of the 24 chefs chosen by the jury, only 16 will enter to compete for the 10 million pesos. These days the contestants will have to face more tests to show who is deserving of an apron.
That is why Belén competed more than once. When her story became known on Tuesday, she moved everyone and deeply moved Germán Martitegui. “I love cooking. I think that as a girl I was very hungry, so my side that I like comes from there, ”she said. The young woman re-introduced herself on Wednesday in her aspiration to continue in the program.
As always happens in these cases, while they cook and compete, the jurors approach, one by one, to visit the stations where each applicant is cooking, to find out what they are doing and offer them some guidance.
It was then that the meeting between Martitegui and Belen. The woman who had moved everyone the night before with her story of a difficult childhood, she was somewhat lost in her kitchen task when her chef came to visit her. “I’m more dizzy than the f…”, commented the participant, who was moving a frying pan over the fire in a hurry.
“What is it?” asked the jury, when inquiring about the name of the dish that the young woman wanted to make. “I am cloudy. First I thought one thing, then another…” she said. “Uncloud yourself. Concentrate”, suggested Martitegui, who already lacked patience, asked Belén: “What is your idea?” “I have no idea,” said the contestant, who later added: “I put a sausage on the grill.”
“Well, bye, I’m leaving,” said the owner of the restaurant “Marti” while threatening to abandon the contestant. “No,” she reacted. “Okay, come on, focus,” he asked her.
Martitegui’s little patience
For a while, the young woman continued to show that she was somewhat puzzled by her plate, until Martitegui lifted the lid of a pot and asked: “And what are you going to do here?” “Some hard-boiled eggs,” replied the young woman. “Did you take the time?” The jury wanted to know. “Hey? No. I didn’t take the time, because I wanted to make such a salad first, fast. And then it occurred to me…
“Okay, take the time now, because if not, how long ago did you put them?” asked the cook, already a little irritated, who added: “But, do you want to continue here?” “Yes, of course I do,” she replied. “Well, it’s not the way,” Martitegui retorted angrily, who ended his stay in front of the participant with strict advice: “So, put your batteries together.”
Finally, when the time came to evaluate the dish that Belén had prepared, the jurors were not satisfied with the result. To such an extent that the girl ended up eliminated from the program.
