The master plan for the development of logistics centers in Saudi was presented. 59 logistics centers across the country are included in the project. The master plan is part of making Saudi Arabia a global logistics hub.
The master plan was presented by Crown Prince and Chairman of the Supreme Logistics Committee, Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The project is aimed at developing logistics sector infrastructure in the country and diversifying the local economy. This will also include expansion of existing logistics centres.
The objectives of the project are to increase regional and international connectivity to international trade networks and global supply chains, strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and increase employment opportunities. Taking advantage of Saudi Arabia’s geographical location connecting the three most important continents, Asia, Europe and Africa, Saudi Arabia will be elevated to the position of a global logistics center connecting the country to global markets.
The masterplan includes 59 logistics centers with a total area of over 100 million square meters, including 12 logistics centers each in Riyadh and Makkah regions, 17 in the eastern region, and 18 in other regions. At present, operational projects are underway in 21 centers. All the centers will be operational by 2030.
