Thousands of Taylor Swift fans appear to have fallen victim to a scam following being sold monkey tickets for her ‘Eras’ tour with scammers estimated to have made more than £1m.

According to SkyNews, more than 600 Lloyds Banking Group customers have reported being scammed since July 2023, when tickets for Taylor Swift’s tour went on sale.

Lloyds Banking Group estimates that each victim lost an average of £332, although in some cases the figure was as high as £1,000.

With the figures based solely on its own customer figures, Lloyds estimates there are likely to have been at least 3,000 victims across the UK and more than £1m gone up in smoke.

Taylor Swift fans aged 25 to 34 trying to buy sold-out tickets are more likely to be targeted, with many scams coming from social media, Lloyds has warned.

Fans of Coldplay, Beyonce and Harry Styles have found themselves in a similar position following being targeted by scams last summer, he added.

Swift’s record-breaking Eras tour is set to raise more than $1bn (£813m), according to reports, with tickets for the concerts selling out as soon as they went on sale.

By the time the tour ends in December, the singer will have performed over 150 concerts on five continents.
