“Massive Power Outages Leave Nearly 35,000 Homes in the Dark Due to Strong Winds – Hydro-Quebec Network”

Nearly 35,000 homes were plunged into darkness Monday morning, due to power outages on the Hydro-Quebec network caused by strong winds.

The state corporation reported in its report at 4:30 a.m. of some 34,808 households without electricity, the majority of them in the Laurentians and Mauricie.

The situation remains critical in the Laurentians, with more than 10,650 Hydro-Québec customers affected by outages and waiting to be reconnected.

Mauricie also suffered, with nearly 8,000 households in the same situation.

In Lanaudière and Estrie, the balance sheet of Hydro-Quebec reported respectively 5,974 and 2,362 households to wait for the restoration of electricity.

In Montreal, more than 1,140 households were plunged into darkness, while there were 419 in the Capitale-Nationale and more than 2,600 homes without electricity in the Outaouais.

Hydro-Québec agents were still busy Monday morning to restore some 193 interruptions that have still not been restored in the province.
