A violent fire broke out in a residential building on Boulevard Pierre-Bertrand in Quebec City on Saturday morning, forcing the intervention of around sixty firefighters from the Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ).
Emergency services were contacted at around 8.20am to a fire in a two-storey building.

Arriving on scene, firefighters noted the presence of a vehicle near the building, leading them to believe that a person might still be inside.
While fighting the fire, firefighters were able to carry out a primary search which ultimately came back negative, as there was no one inside.
“In connection with the risks of partial collapse of the structure, the firefighters then changed strategy and opted for a defensive strategy and proceeded to extinguish the exterior of the building,” explains Alexandre Lajoie, SPCIQ publicist. .

At the end of the morning, firefighters were still working to put out the blaze. Part of the roof also collapsed during the morning. However, the SPCIQ has not reported any injuries at this time.
