Numerous users reported disruptions to the Whatsapp messenger service in the evening.
On Thursday evening, more than 22,000 references to problems with Whatsapp were received by the “alle disturbances.de” fault service.
Thousands of indications of problems with Whatsapp were received by the “alle disturbances.ch” fault service on Thursday evening. Numerous news scouts also reported difficulties. There were problems especially when logging on to Web WhatsApp and when sending messages.
It was unclear what caused the problem. WhatsApp wrote on Twitter: “You may be having some issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We are aware of this and are working to get things running smoothly once more. We’ll keep you posted and thank you for your patience in the meantime.”
The all-clear came later. “We are back. Happy chatting, »Whatsapp wrote on Twitter shortly before midnight.
The problem was apparently worldwide. Many users stormed Twitter to comment on the failure.
