Massive Cocaine Haul Discovered in Banana Shipment at Port of Antwerp

Customs found a large quantity of cocaine hidden in a container of bananas on Sunday at the port of Antwerp, the Antwerp prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday. In total, 6,822 kilos of drugs were discovered. The police apprehended four individuals.

The seizure took place on quay 1742 at the port of the country of Waes, a section of the port of Antwerp. The cocaine was found with a shipment of bananas from Ecuador. The Federal Judicial Police (PJF) of Antwerp apprehended four suspects during the operation. They have meanwhile been presented to an investigating judge, who has decided to keep them in detention.
