The authorities reported that an alleged fault had caused the power outage in the province, in the midst of the demonstrations in Caimanera.

In the report, they indicate that the current went out for more than an hour in the entire province, except for Maisí and Baracoa.

“The technical management of the Electric Company informs us that following the reconnection with the SEN, the announced circuits remain off according to the blackout schedule due to a generation deficit, which, at the moment, is 15 MW.”

They also specified that the fault occurred on the line that feeds the province, in the Santiago de Cuba section.

Hundreds of Cubans took to the streets at sunset this Saturday in the Guantanamo municipality of Caimanera with shouts of “Freedom.”

After the massive demonstration, users report internet cuts throughout the country.

“All kinds of communication with Cuba have been lost,” they warn.
