Despite the massive intervention of firefighters from the Vesdre-Hoëgne & Plateau area, helped by their colleagues from the Warche Amblève Lienne area, all the laying hens, around 35,000 animals, perished in the flames.
The hangar, located on Voie du Moulin street, is completely unusable.
Firefighters reported the blaze around 6:10 p.m. Sunday. Reinforcements were quickly called in. A total of 44 firefighters fought against the flames, helped by 2 pumpers, 2 self-ladders, 6 tanks, as well as technical vehicles. The fire could not be brought under control until around 11:00 p.m.
The fire caused a huge release of black smoke very visible around.
