Sergio Massa and Miguel Pesce renewed the swap with the People’s Bank of China for three more years for 136 billion yuan. which is equivalent to regarding 19,000 million dollars.
In addition, the officials who are on tour in Asia, at this moment in Beijing, reached a pre-agreement for the extension to another 5,000 million dollars, of those already activated, which although they are freely available for use – that is to say, it will provide them with greater capacity to intervene in the market-, they will have as a priority the payment of the bilateral deficit.
Sources from the economic team that is in Beijing confirmed to PROFILE that the negotiations to activate the agreement for the second amount of 5,000 million will be launched once a significant part of the first authorized tranche is in use, which is currently found in the BCRA accounts.
According to these same sources, there are currently 1.4 billion dollars loaded in yuan in orders within the Import System of the Argentine Republic (SIRA), and they estimate that this behavior will become more dynamic in the coming months.
