Mass Graves in Gaza: The Horrific Truth Unveiled

Lhe days pass and the barbaric exactions of the Israeli army intensify and result in the most absolute horror and abomination. After the multiple killings in different neighborhoods of Gaza, following having perpetrated a mass killing of more than 35,000 dead including a large number of women and children, here are the cases of mass graves and other mass graves which surface showing to what extent Gaza is a lawless zone and an open-air theater of the most inhuman savagery.

Indeed, on April 22, 2024, the Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip claimed that at least 50 bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces had been exhumed in a hospital in the city of Khan Younes. “We noted the presence in the Nasser Medical Complex of mass graves dug by the Israeli occupier. We began excavations and were shocked to discover 50 martyrs in one of the graves,” declared Mahmoud Bassal, one of the spokespersons. of Civil Defense.

50 decomposed corpses in a single grave, while other macabre discoveries swelled the number of civilians executed and thrown into holes previously dug by the IDF. “The excavations continue today. And there are other bodies but we are waiting for the end of the operations to clearly establish the number of bodies found,” said the Palestinian spokesperson.

To cover this entire urban area, several teams are on the ground following the exit of Israeli tanks and the possibility of access to places in ruins where no organization or medical team has been able to approach since October 7, 2023 until the 7 April 2024, date of the start of the evacuation of Israeli troops in this area.

After the first searches, many of the bodies found “were stripped of their clothes, which certainly indicates that they were arrested, tortured and subjected to ill-treatment by the Israeli occupying army,” said the Palestinian leader.

Moreover, in a statement published on April 20, 2024, the Palestinian emergency services declared: “Our teams are continuing their search and recovery operations for the remaining martyrs in the coming days, because there is still a large number number”. Operations which can take several weeks or even months due to the demolition by bombs and shells of almost all the buildings in the entire Gaza Strip. This requires dedicated teams and time to discover the remains of unrecorded victims. Which makes the Hamas leadership say that the real number of deaths may exceed 50,000 victims.

In this regard, in a statement dated April 20, the Palestinian movement Hamas described the discovery of the bodies of “more than 50 martyrs of all ages” in this grave as a “horrible crime.” The movement’s leaders added that the latter had been “executed in cold blood and buried by military bulldozers in the courtyard” of the Nasser Medical Complex. Indeed, the first mass graves were all discovered near hospitals and schools.

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been harshly targeted during the military operation that the Israeli army has been carrying out in the Palestinian territory for more than six months.

Faced with this difficult task, Palestinian Civil Defense teams who began their search 72 hours ago discovered another mass grave inside the Nasser medical complex in Khan Younes, Gaza, increasing the number of corpses. piled on top of each other with 180 bodies found to date, while Israel continues its bombardments on the coastal enclave devastated for more than six months.

While Palestinian health teams attempt to dig up the dead thrown into mass graves, Israel intensifies strikes which continue in the coastal enclave, notably on the town of Rafah, south of Gaza, where raids over the past 48 hours have killed 22 people, including 18 children, health officials said. They add that Israel has carried out almost daily air raids on Rafah, where more than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have sought refuge from fighting elsewhere. Under the bombs, “entire families are directly targeted inside the residential homes in which they shelter,” said Hani Mahmoud, a member of the Palestinian Civil Defense. He specifies that “The feeling of security has collapsed for people already traumatized by their flight from one place to another.”
