Mass Attack in Ukraine; Russia killed 600 soldiers – Russia Ukraine war

Kyiv ∙ A massive attack in Ukraine shortly following the end of the 36-hour Christmas ceasefire announced by Russia. Russia’s Defense Ministry said 600 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in a rocket attack in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine. The attack was on two buildings where Ukrainian soldiers lived.

The ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin was from Friday morning to Saturday followingnoon, when the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas. Ukraine did not accept it. Russia’s defense ministry said the offensive would continue until victory was achieved. The attack took place while the people were suffering due to extreme cold. Night temperatures in many parts of Ukraine are minus 15–17 degrees Celsius. It is also reported that Russia has deployed more troops to the border with Belarus.

At the same time, Ukraine and Russia exchanged 50 prisoners of war. Ukraine has released 50 Russian prisoners following mediation talks, Russia’s Defense Ministry said. In exchange, Russia also released 50 Ukrainian soldiers who were in captivity.
