Mask again in Delhi, otherwise fined Rs 500; Kovid is increasing in India

New Delhi: Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated in India following a number of states relaxed their Kovid controls. The states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Mizoram, which reported a slight increase in Kovid cases, have been directed by the Central Government to monitor the spread of Kovid and take immediate action.

In a letter to Kerala stating that Kovid cases are not being reported on a daily basis, the Center also stressed the need to maintain precautionary measures. For the second time this week, the daily number of Kovid cases in India has crossed 2,000. In the last 24 hours, 2067 new cases were reported in India. This is 66 per cent more than the previous day. 40 new Kovid deaths have also been confirmed.

The country’s daily positive rate rose to 0.44 percent on Wednesday. On April 12, the positive rate was 0.21%. The weekly positivity rate on Wednesday was 0.38 percent. Wearing a mask has been made mandatory in Delhi in the wake of rising Kovid cases. Those who do not wear the mask will be fined Rs 500. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have ordered the re-enforcement of the mask in districts bordering Delhi.

In Delhi, 632 Kovid cases were reported on Tuesday. No new deaths have been reported. The positivity rate is 4.4 percent. In Maharashtra, 127 new Kovid cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. Three days later, three new Kovid deaths were confirmed. In Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, 33 out of 107 people confirmed by Kovid yesterday were children.
