MAS rejects intimidation against Edmundo González

Felipe Mujica, Secretary General of the Movement to Socialism (BUT), criticized the administration of Nicolás Maduro for trying to create confusion among voters by scheduling campaign events in places and at times similar to those of the opposition.

This, according to Mujica, translates into a persecution that undermines Edmundo González’s campaign, candidate for the Democratic Unitary Platform for the presidential elections of July 28.

“Every time it is announced that there will be an opposition event, whether it is headed by María Corina Machado or Edmundo González Urrutia, the government appears, following that call, to make a redundancy, also holding public events and electoral events that clearly have the intention of generating confusion and contradiction due to the risk of violent acts occurring.”he explained.

The MAS leader added that the actions related to the closure of hotels where they have stayed Edmundo Gonzalez or Maria Corina Machadoconstitute an outrage.

However, he urged Venezuelan society to act in a civic manner in the face of such events and urged people to express themselves by voting. For Mujica, this is the preferred way to bring regarding real change.

The general secretary of the MAS closed by indicating that a government led by Edmundo González “It will not be the same as the one we have today, because it will not persecute or imprison anyone and will not use political revenge as an instrument of submission”.
