A Maryland man who mightn’t go on a family cruise due to seasickness ended up winning a $50,000 scratch-off prize Dollars, while spending his time alone.
James Howard, 48, of Arbutus, told Maryland Lottery officials his motion sickness issues left him home alone while his wife, adult children and mother-in-law took a cruise. together.
Howard said he bought a $5 Monopoly X20 game instant ticket at Pantry 1 Food Mart to pass the time.
“I like to chase the profits and try to get the big winHoward said, according to the UPI portal.
His ticket ended up giving him a huge win of $50,000.
Howard said he called his family while on board the ship to tell them the good news.
“They told me (the family) to make sure I get a picture with the big check“, said.
Howard said the Pantry 1 Food Mart employee was just as excited regarding his win.
“I was excited. I think he even gave me a hug”, recalled the lucky player.
Howard said he plans to use the money to buy a new car, do some home renovations and save the rest.
