Baltimore County police say one of the victims of a double shooting in Middle River, Maryland, is a “major drug dealer” and will face charges when he is released from the hospital where he is recovering from his injuries.

The case gained great attention from the community when a video began to circulate on the internet where it might be seen that a semi-automatic weapon was used in the attack.

“When this tragedy happened the other day, the violence in our community seemed to have reached another level,” said Del. Ric Metzgar. “Then I saw the video and the machine gun obviously… Our area has never experienced anything like this.”

Likewise, Baltimore Police Captain Eliot Latchaw updated the community on the investigation process. He said the suspect’s passenger, who was also injured, will face charges. The shooter remains a fugitive from justice.

“The video that came out is obviously shocking. It won’t sweeten it. We don’t see violence like that very often here,” Latchaw said. “But we don’t play games when it comes to investigating crimes, especially of this magnitude.”

The captain said the shooting was not a random act.

“This was not an innocent victim. I can tell you with 100% positivity and confidence that she is a major drug dealer,” Latchaw expressed. “There was a reason this happened.”

In addition, he said the male victim was not from the area and was in Middle River because he had a hearing at the local traffic court. None of the people shot were identified by police.

Baltimore County officials were called following reports of a shooting at Compass Road and Martin. At the scene, officers found a 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman inside a black pickup truck with multiple gunshot wounds.

The audiovisual material shows a vehicle stopped next to the truck that collided with a pole at the intersection of Compass Road and Martin Boulevard. A rapid firing of bullets can be heard in the audio.

At least 20 bullet holes were counted in the driver’s window and the front and rear doors.
