Mary Jackson College in Dadonville disrupted by a strike

“We are doubly undersized” point out the teachers’ unions who are calling for a strike this Tuesday morning at Mary Jackson College in Dadonville, near Pithiviers. In question, lack of staff and lack of space in this brand new establishment, inaugurated in September 2021
. The principal we contacted ensures that the reception of students remains assured despite the social movement.

At the heart of the dispute, lack of deputy principal. This position does not exist today at Mary Jackson College, to the great displeasure of the teachers, who say they are obliged to perform the functions in addition to their usual work. “The sizing that had been carried out before the opening of the college provided for 430 students specifies the principal education adviser and representative of the SNES, Benoît Capou. But from the inauguration in September 2021 we ended up with 530 students. The problem is that we did not have additional staff despite these 100 more students. Asked regarding this, the rectorate replied that the current number of students does not in any way justify the creation of a post of deputy principal.

Premises already cramped according to the strikers

Second reported problem, already cramped premises in this college inaugurated a year ago. The teachers regret that the study room is too small (it can only accommodate two classes at the same time), and the absence of a multipurpose room. “We have to hold parent-teacher meetings in the refectory” points out a striking teacher. “This college responds to very precise specifications answers Marc Gaudet, the president of the Loiret department. This multipurpose room does exist. It is attached to the gymnasium, located just outside Mary Jackson College”. “It’s not practical to have to leave the premises of the establishment” teachers retort.
