Martinez: On June 29th we must all show maturity and understand each other for Venezuela

In the program broadcast by Venevisión, the opposition candidate determined that today the salary increase, more than social justice, is the real way to reactivate the economy
“July 28 is a relevant date in the history of the country, but July 29 and the days that follow are even more important… Because it will demonstrate the maturity of the Venezuelan people and the capacity of the political leadership to understand us in Venezuela.” This was stated by the candidate for the presidency of the Republic, Dr. Luis Eduardo Martínez, in an interview for the program Abriendo Puertas on Venevisión.

The candidate for the political parties AD, Copei, MR, BR, UNE and DDP, was emphatic in pointing out that the Caribbean country cannot withstand more confrontation or fights, and attributed “a good part” of the national crisis to sterile confrontations that have lasted for years.

When questioned by journalist Margarita Oropeza regarding what will happen in Venezuela on June 29, Martínez said that his hope is that all Venezuelans can meet once more.

He also said that whoever is elected should call for an immediate meeting to structure a Government of National Unity: “Let it not be a one-party government (…) let us incorporate the best, regardless of their political affiliation, until the 28th (of July),” he added.

Salary increase, social justice and key to economic recovery
The standard-bearer of the democratic opposition, who has promised an “Economic Miracle” for Venezuela, made it clear in the same space that among his first measures will be a decree to increase salaries, wages, retirements and pensions for all Venezuelans.

Citing the example of Haiti, once the poorest country on the continent, which today has a base salary of $170, Martínez insisted that Venezuelans cannot continue to earn $3.50 a month. “More than an act of social justice, a salary increase is the only possible way to reactivate the economy.”

ROLE OF THE ARMED FORCES

In another vein, Martínez defended the reliability of the electoral process and asserted that the election is protected by the highest electoral body. Additionally, he stated that the role of the Armed Forces has always been to respect the will of the Venezuelan people and July 28 will be no different.
