Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez emphasized that our work is not done yet in this season’s Carabao Cup ahead of Sunday’s final.

Manchester United will meet Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium tomorrow (4.30pm UK time on Sunday) and aim for the first trophy of the season.

Winning the Carabao Cup might be the first trophy under the Eric ten Hag system. It will also be his first United success for Martinez, who followed the former Ajax boss from Amsterdam to Manchester last summer.

United’s number 6 Martinez spoke out regarding his determination to claim his first trophy with Manchester United, and the team’s desire to reap the rewards of progress in recent months.

Martinez told club media ahead of Newcastle’s match at Wembley.

“It means a lot to reach the Carabao Cup final.”

said.

“This is my first cup final at Manchester United. It’s not over yet, but we’ve prepared well for the game and we’re ready to fight. It would be fantastic to lift the trophy.”

This match is Manchester United’s first final since the 2020-21 season, and the first final at Wembley since the 2018 FA Cup.

Martinez said the team spirit has improved since joining last summer.

“There is no doubt that United will recover more quickly with reaching the cup final.”

said

“That’s why we work hard. You do the right thing, but the results follow.”

“The atmosphere is great, everyone is positive and motivated. We are hungry, we want to win, that is the spirit of the team.”

This weekend’s fixture will be World Cup winner Martinez’s first Wembley final as a Manchester United player. However, he did visit Wembley Stadium following winning the CONMEBOL-UEFA Cup of Champions as part of Argentina’s victory over Italy last year.

Martinez understands his surroundings at Wembley. We hope to create a memorable day at Wembley with the Manchester United squad and supporters.

Lisandro Martinez

“I have been there and I know the stadium well. It is an amazing stadium with good energy. The game is up to us. We have to prepare all the details,”

“The motivation is really great. Manchester United is a team that needs trophies. If you make it to the finals, you have to win.”

“I’m definitely looking forward to it. As I said, every game is really important and we need the support of the fans.”
