There are just a few months left until the MTB season is reactivated worldwide. It will be the month of April that opens the UCI World Cup series, with Brazil as the first stop, and it is here where the national benchmark, Martin Vidaurrewill fight to secure a place in his second Olympic Games, following his participation in Tokyo.
The first two dates of the circuit will be run on Brazilian soil, with the first of them on April 12 in Mairipora, south of Sao Paulo, and the second in Araxá, in the west of the country.
To qualify for Paris 2024, The Red Bull athlete must add the last points to keep Chile within the 19 best MTB countries in the worldthese being key instances, given that the qualifying period closes on May 26.
Although this is the debut of both Brazilian locations on the World Cup calendar, Martín knows one of them well. Last year the cyclist faced the challenging and hot geography of this country, taking P1 in the Araxá Cup.
“Running in Brazil is crazy!”Vidaurre commented following his victory, detailing that it is a fairly fast and dynamic circuit.
Mountain biking will be present at the Olympics between July 28 and 29 at Ellancourt Hill, the highest point in the Parisian capital (231 meters), with 34 places for men and 34 for women.
The Red Bull athlete is already preparing for what is to come, and like every summer, he focuses his training on improving his physical condition in high altitude places. This time he will be staying in Farellones, a place that he knows well and where he does his pre-seasons.
Before starting the world circuit, Vidaurre will compete in MTB in Valdivia, and will also race in another discipline that saw him shine at the Pan American Games: road cycling. Having touched the podium, with a fourth place, the Chilean is enjoying this complementary format more and more.
