Martín Tetaz assured that inflation could be eradicated in a “short time” with a monetary reform

The deputy of Together for Change and economist, Martin Tetazrevealed this Tuesday the “point in favor” with which the Government has to alleviate a possible removal of subsidies and increase in electricity and gas rates. “It depends on Alberto Fernández to take it into account or not”Tetaz maintained in dialogue with José del Rio, for LN+.

Asked regarding how the Fernández administration might mitigate the impact of the increase in the price of services, the legislator was specific. “There is a point in favor that depends on Alberto Fernández. We’ll see if he takes it into account or not. Pipeline construction needs to move forward [Néstor Kirchner]”.

The economist’s statements come within the framework of the resignation of Antonio Pronsato, official who was in charge of the execution of the work. The slam only increased uncertainty regarding the project, which will transport gas from Vaca Muerta (Neuquén) to the province of Buenos Aires

Along these lines, Tetaz explained: “If the gas pipeline is completed, the cost of generating electricity will be lower because the price of gas at the wellhead it would be around 4 dollars. Today we pay 25 or 30 dollars for imported gas”. Later, he remarked that if it might be done “It would be a great relief.”

He also specified that “It would allow the tariff jump not to be so great or end up being nothing more than a rise”, at the same time he clarified to finish: “All this does not mean that there has to be a rate correction”. In another section of the interview, the JxC deputy spoke regarding the problem of debt and inflation.

Martín Tetaz explained what to do to end inflation in Argentina

Regarding debt taking, he made it clear which was the “Government that spent more than it had to spend”. “We have Alberto Fernández first and Cristina Kirchner second,” she said, later adding: “The only difference between the two is that Cristina received the country with a surplus.”

“Let’s put it in simple terms: if you have a salary of 100,000 pesos, the only way to spend 120,000 is by borrowing, eating reserves or breaking the piggy bank. Cristina had 100,000 and spent 95,000 initially. He left spending 120,000leaving him with a phenomenal problem,” he added.

Finally, and in relation to the inflationary problem, he said that can be eradicated in a “short time”. “The same time that Chile, Peru, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil took”, he highlighted and closed: “The only thing to do is a monetary reform. In the first year since applied, you will already be able to notice a drastic drop”.

Last November, Tetaz presented precisely a monetary reform project to lower inflation. This consisted of giving independence to the Central Bank. In dialogue with Urbana Play, he explained: “Basically, proposes that the president of the Central Bank no longer be chosen by the president of the Republic”.

“In his replacement, it is Congress that would elect him. In this way, the actions of the president of the BCRA might be limited when making decisions on monetary financing”, he detailed and insisted: “It’s the only way we’re going to be able to end inflation.”
