Warning! What I will write in the next few seconds has not been scientifically verified.
L’effet Hughes and theGorton effect do not exist. At least not in the short term…
To be able to analyze the work of a VP hockey and a CEO, it takes patience. A certain period of time must have passed…
But’St. Louis effect, he seems to exist. One coachunlike a leader, has the ability to put his mark on a group of players in the space of a few practices, speechs and fixes. That’s it job! And everything indicates that this is what is happening with Martin St-Louis and the Canadian…
The team which signed its second consecutive victory, then its third in a row the next day – it took them around fifty games to do so – is already very different from the one which lined up defeats under the orders of Dominique Ducharme.
Under Ducharme, the CH showed an 8-30-7 record in 2021-22.
Under St-Louis, it’s more like 3-3-0… including three wins in the team’s last three games. And the fans have a lot more fun in front of their TV…
I know, the sample is still small and we shouldn’t be tempted to extrapolate too much from a simple streak of three games, but there are a lot more positives to take from the team’s last six games than 45 first.
Under Martin St-Louis, the CH made 2 – 5, 1 – 2, 3 – 5, 3 – 2, 3 – 2 and 5 – 2.
Differential since the arrival of St-Louis: minus-1.
Before it was minus-79.
In the last five games coached by Dominique Ducharme, the CH made 2 – 8, 4 – 5, 2 – 7, 3 – 6 and 2 – 7.
I think we can say it and write it this morning: Dominique Ducharme was indeed part of the problem, and not part of the solution. The differences between this current team – still decimated by injuries and amputated from Tyler Toffoli, who took the road to Calgary – and that led by Judgment Ducharme just a few weeks ago are huge.
Ducharme’s system was too rigid. Talk to Jeff Petry and several veterans of the team…
I think it just highlights how many guys were unhappy playing for Ducharme. Petry wasn’t just speaking for himself when he was criticizing system.

The game concepts taught and required by St-Louis allow players to reflect and thrive. And not only to apply a simple and flat robotic process…
Dominique Ducharme sought to impose his ideas on the players while St-Louis wishes more to guide them to constantly find the best action/solution possible.
Ducharme was not very refreshing during his press briefings and we learned very little regarding the team (and regarding him) when we spoke to him. St-Louis, on the other hand, shows a lot of wisdom for a rookie coach. #WordsOfWisdom
The little Canadian coach reminds me a lot of John Herdman, coach of Team Canada (men’s soccer). Why? Because he has this gift of arousing the passion and love of sport in his players. St-Louis is an outstanding communicator and motivator. He knows how inflict confidence (and freedom, a fashionable concept these days) to its athletes.

East St. Louis lousse with his guys… he trusts them… while Ducharme was more rigid is less open. In the new NHL, the first method works much better than the second…
St. Louis is a real brain. He is intelligent, hardworking, unifying, pedagogue, open-minded and motivated. It compensates a lot for his lack of experience. behind the bench.
He knew how to transform the formation in the space of just a few games and training sessions.
No, the Canadiens will not win the Stanley Cup this year. Or next year… but we can now hope that the reconstruction will not last five years.
Dominique Ducharme was not necessarily a bad coach. However, he lacked experience with NHL players and he mightn’t adjust.
It’s nothing once morest the man that is Ducharme, but the more time passes, the more I come to one conclusion: St-Louis and Ducharme are not hockey men of the same level. On the ice, behind a bench, in the locker room, during a game and in front of the cameras.
I had a lot of empathy for Ducharme. Still do. But man he is not coming out of this looking good. Every single skilled player looks completely different now. Not a good look.

Fortunately, the Canadiens now have Martin St-Louis as their current interim coach, not Ducharme.
Note that Pierre LeBrun can’t imagine seeing a head coach other than Martin St-Louis behind the bench for the Montreal team next fall. The direction of the CH would like to have it and there would remain only the Yes St. Louis official. He should come Yes…
Obviously meant hard not to think he will be behind the bench next fall.

The recent successes of the Canadian and Martin St-Louis do not seem like a flash in the pan. The team seems to be improving for real and there is reason to believe that these improvements are not just the result of a spark that often occurs during a change of coach.

– Martin St-Louis has advice for young hockey players (and for everyone, in fact): try to be the best version of yourself, in good times and in bad.
I asked #Habs coach Martin St. Louis last night what’s his advice for young kids with dreams of one day playing in the NHL. Here’s his answer, which was great #HabsIO: pic.twitter.com/yHqJuH9lkl

– Let’s not put too much emphasis on the possible (small) rise in the rankings of the Canadians. The teams ahead of the CH are still far away for the most part (lottery) and winning will bring more positives than negatives in the end (trust)…
Stop worrying regarding the standings, the Canadian made sure a while ago that he mightn’t go up too much, writes @ArponBasu.
