Martin Sonneborn was editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine “Titanic” for five years and is now its co-editor. The editorial team recently explained that they are “bankrupt like never before,” which is why they urgently need 5,000 new subscriptions. A few days later, the editor-in-chief announced that enough donations had been received to continue for at least a year. Martin Sonneborn has been a member of the European Parliament for the satirical party “The Party” since 2014. He is critical of the state of German satire, also because, in his opinion, the AfD is doing many things better. The NZZ interviewed him in writing. Sonneborn doesn’t have time for a personal meeting – he’s currently working on the proofs of his new Brussels book and has a hangover.
