The commission investigating the case of the late Justice Department head Christian Pilnacek presented its final report on Monday. It confirms attempts at political intervention during Pilnacek’s term in office and thus substantiates his allegations.
Kreutner rated the justice system in prominent criminal cases on a scale of “four to five”. He explained: “We would no longer be able to join the EU today.” When asked which of the five parties were affected by the allegations of intervention, Kreutner gave an evasive answer, saying that the parties that had been in power longer were more likely to exploit their positions of power.
The commission found evidence of improper interventions, information inflow and outflow, procedural irregularities and compliance violations in prominent criminal cases. According to Kreutner, however, no single person can be held responsible for these abuses.
