While the sailing test event is taking place on the site of the Olympic Marina in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) from July 9 to 16, 2023, a delegation from Paris 2024 made the trip to the Phocaean city, a delegation joined this Wednesday by the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

France’s second city is preparing to host the Summer Games next year. In addition to part of the matches of the Olympic football tournament, Marseille will also host the sailing competitions.

Also, major work is being carried out in the Marina sector of the Roucas White and this, in order to modernize the general infrastructure of the site and to make it an international standard on which the eyes will be trained in 2024.

These days, a conditioning allows future competitors to be able to compete in the Mediterranean setting facing the Phocaean City, thanks to the holding of the sailing test event which Paris 2024 supervises from 09 to July 16.

For the occasion, a Parisian delegation led by the President of the Organizing Committee (OCOG) arrived in Marseilles on Tuesday July 11, for a short stay of forty-eight hours which is and will be punctuated by appointments with the authorities. local and regional.

Thus, Tony Estanguet, Étienne Thobois, Director General of the OCOG, and Frédéric Sanaur, Director General of the National Sports Agency (ANS), went to the Pointe Rouge site to officially launch the summer edition of the program “1, 2, 3 Swim!”. As an illustration of the legacy of the Games, the said program should enable and facilitate – due to its nationwide deployment – ​​learning to swim for thousands of children, sometimes in areas lacking in aquatic facilities.

This Wednesday, the Paris 2024 delegation will travel to La Digue du large this time to observe the sailing competitions as part of the test event which mobilizes no less than 348 athletes.

For the sequence as close as possible to the boats, Tony Estanguet will be accompanied in particular by the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, by Samia Ghali, Deputy Mayor of Marseille in charge of Youth and Sports, by Martine Vassal, President of the Aix-Marseille Metropolis and of the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council, but also Christophe Mirmand, Prefect of Marseille, Gilles Boidevezi, Maritime Prefect of the Mediterranean, and Frédérique Camillieri, Prefect of Police.

Because if the organization of the test event aims to ensure the technical control of the site planned for the competitions next year, it is also placed under the sign of security.

At the end of this observation in the middle of the followingnoon, a meeting with regional athletes supported by the system “Champions of the South” will be organized from the Pôle France de Voile. In addition to the aforementioned personalities, the Mayor of Marseille, Benoît Payan, should make the trip, as well as the President of the South Region, Renaud Muselier.

Beyond presence on site of Paris 2024, the Marseille sequence will also be punctuated by the holding of the Local Mobility Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the participation of the Minister, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, and her government colleague, Clément Beaune, Minister Delegate for transport charge.
