Marseille: Chancel Mbemba, always brilliant, contributes to OM’s comeback

For its 23rd day in the championship, and the first in Ligue 1 since the arrival of Jean-Louis Gasset, Olympique de Marseille achieved a stunning victory over Montpellier 4-1. Mbemba offered an assist to Aubameyang.

Trailing since the first minutes of the match, the Marseillais came back into the game to win largely at the Orange Vélodrome stadium.

The captain of the Leopards started from the start in a three-way hinge with Balerdi and Gigot, while on the opposing side Dimitri Bertaud was on the bench. Al-Tamari launched the hostilities after just 5 minutes of play. The Marseillais’ reaction came after half an hour through Iliman Ndiaye. With a heavy strike, the Senegalese allowed his club to get back into the game. High and eager to win, the Phocaeans did the hardest part before the break; Chancel Mbemba, found in the open area, offered a magnificent pass to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who only had to push the ball deep (2-1).

In the second period, the Gabonese returned to the charge to put OM away. On a penalty in the 62nd minute, he wrong-footed goalkeeper Lecomte. 8 minutes from time, Sacko Falaye scored against his side, to the great pleasure of Chancel Mbemba and his teammates who won 4-1. With this success, OM maintains its ninth place in the standings with 33 points.
