Marseille: a prisoner wanted after escaping from a psychiatric hospital – BFMTV

A prisoner from the Baumettes prison is currently being sought after escaping last week from the Édouard Toulouse hospital center when he was due to be taken back to his cell.

A man suffering from mental health problems escaped last week from the Édouard Toulouse hospital center while he was due to be taken back to the Baumettes prison where he was incarcerated, BFM Marseille Provence learned from the Paca regional health agency, confirming information from Provence. The individual is still being sought by law enforcement.

According to the regional daily, the individual, aged 20, did not present a dangerous character.

As he was about to be handed over to the Baumettes staff, the fugitive is said to have jumped out of a hospital vehicle under the stunned gaze of the three medical staff who were accompanying him. The prisoner is then said to have headed to the Cité de la Solidarité (15th arrondissement), where he is said to have come from.
