NASA rovers like Perseverance and Curiosity, which are moving faster since the last software update, continue their exploration of Mars. They are located 225 million kilometers from Earth on average. Meanwhile, LEGO is releasing its own version of the Perseverance rover that already has wheels on Earth. Indeed, the LEGO set of the Perseverance rover with the small Ingenuity helicopter has officially been announced.
The Perseverance rover in small colored bricks is a LEGO Technic set. It is therefore more aimed at young and old who want to build a functional rover with articulated suspensions, 360° steering and a movable articulated arm.

Space exploration enthusiasts will delight in this LEGO set, which includes 1,132 pieces that must be assembled meticulously to accurately reproduce NASA’s spacecraft.
This is not the first time that the Danish giant of small colored bricks pays homage to space exploration. We have indeed already had a replica of the Hubble Space Telescope. However, this is the first time that we have a LEGO Technic box dedicated to a spacecraft, in this case the famous Perseverance rover.
Perseverance in LEGO is well equipped with 6 wheels that allow it to move 360°. It does not, however, have a motor to move autonomously or be remotely controlled. Instead, LEGO has provided a dedicated augmented reality application. It gives the impression that the rover is rolling on the Martian surface. The application also displays information regarding the ” real vehicle and its mission to Mars as well as current weather conditions on the red planet.
In any case, we don’t know yet if Perseverance will be compatible with LEGO motors to make it roll and change its direction. Some enthusiasts will surely try to DIY one if this is not the case. The brick-built Perseverance rover also comes with its trusty Ingenuity helicopter, but it can’t fly either.
