Chennai: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Glenn Maxwell’s ‘wedding’ in traditional Tamil style. Video footage of Vini Raman Maxwell thali tying in the traditional style went viral on social media. Several Twitter handles, including the Chennai Super Kings Fan Army, shared video footage of the wedding. After years of friendship, Maxwell also tied the knot around Winnie’s neck in Australia last week.
Since Vini is of Indian descent, the couple decided to get married twice, in the interest of both families. The couple uploaded a picture of the Australian-style wedding on Instagram last week, saying, ‘Wife and husband, the best is yet to come.’
This was followed by a marriage according to Tamil customs. The Maxwell-Winnie couple’s wedding in Tamil, which was released last month, also went viral.
Maxwell also delayed his trip to India ahead of the 2022 IPL season due to marriage-related needs. Maxwell was not included in the Australia squad for the ODI-Twenty20 tour of Pakistan. Maxwell is expected to join the Royal Challengers in the next few days.
Royal Challengers Bangalore retained Maxwell ahead of the mega star auction for Rs 11 crore. In his first season with the team in 2021, Maxwell scored 513 runs in 15 games at an average of 42.75.
In the first match of the 2022 season, which was played without Maxwell, Bangalore lost to Punjab by 5 wickets despite scoring 205 runs.
