Marrakech is hosting, from June 15 to 19, the 7th edition of the international congress of the world society of pediatric and congenital heart surgery. For the same occasion, the city will host the first edition of the congress of the African Society of Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgery.
Experts in pediatric cardiac surgery and congenital heart disease from around the world will participate in this event, which aims to exchange ideas and new techniques in pediatric cardiac surgery.
Organized by the cardio-vascular surgery department of the CHU Mohammed VI Marrakech, the congress will deal with 3 subjects: the surgical treatment and follow-up of tetralogy of Fallot, and its specificity in developing countries, the surgical treatment of rheumatic mitral valve disease, and how to design and manage a pediatric cardiac surgery center in developing countries especially in Africa This event will include two workshops on the treatment of tetralogy of Fallot, and rheumatic mitral valve disease.
The cardiovascular surgery department of the CHU Mohammed VI Marrakech and the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Marrakech have contributed to the development of pediatric cardiac surgery care in Africa through the training of doctors of several nationalities. To date, one surgeon has been trained and nine are in training.
