Marrakech acquires a new health structure

The infrastructure dedicated to health in the Ocher City has just been reinforced by the inauguration on Thursday of the “Charifa” hospital located in the district of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali.

The result of a partnership between the Qatari Charity Foundation “Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim” and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in coordination with the council of the Marrakech-Safi region, this hospital includes a emergencies, resuscitation, internal diseases, a radiology service, in addition to a medical analysis laboratory and a pharmacy.

Also carried out within the framework of a partnership agreement signed since 2017, between the Council of the Marrakech-Safi region and the said Qatari foundation, this hospital will provide services in several medical specialties, including in particular gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, general medicine and general surgery.

Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of this hospital, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, underlined that the construction of this health structure falls within the framework of development initiatives aimed at further strengthen Moroccan-Qatari cooperation in vital social areas.

In a speech read on his behalf, Ait Taleb said that this initiative reflects the will and aspirations of the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, noting that the inauguration of this hospital is part of the reform and upgrading of the health sector in accordance with the High Royal Instructions.

This health structure will contribute to promoting the quality of medical and care services, bringing them closer to the populations and strengthening the health offer in this region of Morocco, he added, noting that the opening of this health facility is likely to alleviate the suffering of patients who were forced to travel to other health centers. Just as it will help to ease the pressure on other health structures in the region, he explained.

For his part, the President of the Council of the Marrakech-Safi region, Samir Goudar, indicated that the overall cost of building and equipping this hospital with state-of-the-art equipment amounts to more than 200 million DH (MDH), noting that this health structure is likely to provide quality services to the populations, whose number is estimated at 160,000 users annually.

In this context, Goudar noted that the Qatari Charity Foundation Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim financed the construction and equipment of another hospital in Safi for an estimated budget of 250 MDH, indicating that the said foundation also proceeded , in coordination with the council of the region, to the construction of four hemodialysis centers in the various provinces of the region, for an overall cost of 48 MDH, which is likely to contribute to reducing the number of patients registered in the list of expectations.

The executive director of the Qatari Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charity Foundation, Said Moudakir Al Hajiri, for his part, stressed that the construction of this hospital reflects the bonds of brotherhood uniting the two brotherly countries, indicating that this health structure represents one of the model health projects carried out in collaboration with the Council of the Marrakech-Safi region.

He added that the project translates the Foundation’s deep conviction of the importance of promoting the quality of health systems in order to achieve global and sustainable growth, noting that this health structure reflects the vision and common will to promote the health sector.

This hospital, located in a vital geographical area, will help to strengthen the supply of care in the region, and facilitate people’s access to health services and promote the quality of care, he noted, considering that the foundation has worked to ensure that this health structure includes several vital specialties.

The inauguration ceremony of this hospital took place in the presence of the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Mr. Karim Kassi-Lahlou, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari Charity Foundation Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim, Sheikh Jabor Bin Youssef Al-Thani and the Director General of the Charitable Activities Regulatory Authority (RACA), Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Dehaimi.
