Márquez requests recusal of the president of the Electoral Chamber of the TSJ for “political ties” with the PSUV

Former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez filed a request for recusal against the president of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) last Tuesday, arguing that her “ties” with the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) compromise her “impartiality” in the cases being handled within the court.

Márquez stressed that they have provided “convincing evidence that shows how the president has revealed her political connections,” emphasizing that “it is not possible for an official to impartially administer justice if she is involved in partisan activities.”

Although the appeal was received, Márquez regretted that they were not given a document officially confirming it, which raises concerns about the “transparency” of the process.

“Our appeal is not only based on the lack of impartiality, but also includes a series of complaints related to the irregular handling of the electoral process,” he said.

The political leader listed seven complaints that complement the appeal, including the “lack of access to the file” by his team, which prevents the corresponding expert reports from being carried out, as well as the “lack of written records on the receipt of three documents already submitted to the case.”

He also mentioned the complaint about the “impossibility” of presenting witnesses during the development of the expert reports.
