MIAMI — Sandy Alcántara pitched the complete game on a five-hit ball, Luis Arráez homered and the Miami Marlins beat the New York Yankees 3-1 on Saturday.
Alcantara (5-10) struck out 10 for his third complete game and his first home win since April 4, when he covered the road once morest Minnesota. The most recent National League Cy Young Trophy winner grounded out 10 times before 33,986 fans, the most in Miami this season.
Jake Burger and Jesus Sanchez each had two hits for the Marlins. Arráez went 1-for-4, so that his average, the best of the season in the majors, dropped one point, to 365.
A two-run shot by Arráez in the first inning gave Miami the early lead. It was the Venezuelan’s fourth home run of the season.
Starter Michael King (3-5) was relieved following two innings and 41 pitches. The right-hander allowed two runs and four hits in a game that included three strikeouts.
For the Yankees, the Venezuelan Gleyber Torres 4-1.
For the Marlins, the Venezuelan Arráez 4-1 with a run scored and two produced. The Dominicans Bryan de la Cruz 4-0, Sánchez 3-2. Cuban Yuli Gurriel 3-0.
