Marleybane Cricket Club is all set to end ODI cricket in a phased manner. After the 2027 ODI World Cup, the MCC has suggested that the number of ODI matches should be reduced. The decision was taken at a 13-member cricket committee meeting held in Lodz. At the same time, it is also proposed to provide more financial assistance to keep Test cricket and women’s cricket active.

There have been complaints that many countries cannot afford to host men’s Test cricket. There is currently no information available on the cost to countries of conducting test competitions. The ICC has been directed to conduct a test match financial audit to get clarity on the matter. This will make it clear which countries need financial assistance. MCC also stated that a solution can be found in this.

The current decision is to drastically reduce ODI matches following the 2027 ICC Men’s World Cup. In a statement, the MCC said that by implementing this decision, it is believed that it will be possible to increase the standard of cricket and find more time in global cricket.
