Today, veteran defense ally and re-creator and former commander of the Lihula single company in Lääne, private Marko Reisel (6.05.1975-2.11.2024), via the social media of the Lihula single company, left us unexpectedly.
“It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce that on All Souls’ Day, the creator of the Lihula single company, the defense ally of the year, but above all a friend, comrade, dedicated defense ally and role model – Private Marko Reisel, who dedicated his life to maintaining the security and unity of our country and community,” the post reads. .
Reisel joined the Defense League in January 1991, as soon as he heard about it in his high school days, and remained loyal to it throughout his life. Reisel has said that the Defense League offered him an opportunity for self-fulfillment and an escape from the routine of everyday life. He deeply loved national defense and thought it important that, as he was supported by his comrades, he himself would support and guide others.
In 2013, led by Reisel, the men of Lihula came together and together they created the Lihula single company. Reisel was the commander of the individual company, under whose leadership the individual company got its premises in Lihula manor.
The defense union chose Reisel as the defense ally of 2016, and this summer he was the one who brought Haapsallu the victory flag sent to the president’s path. Reisel served as head of personal protection for President Alar Karis.
