Markieff Morris signs a one-year contract with the Nets

Announced for several days on the shelves of the Nets, Markieff Morris has joined Kevin Durant and his band. Interior signed a one-year contract.

With the Kevin Durant saga over, Brooklyn can spend the second on its recruitment and prepare a little more calmly for the coming season. After TJ Warren, Royce O’Neale or even Yuta Watanabe, it is Markieff Morris who will be under the orders of Steve Nash next season. At the end of the contract with the Heat, the strong winger had not yet signed any contract but it was announced in the sights of the Sixers. Sean Marks didn’t want to let the competition get past him so he agreed with the player on a one-year contract for an undisclosed amount (probably minimum). An info confirmed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Slowly but surely, the GM of the Nets is validating a quality summer. He managed to keep his two stars, yet on the way out, and he offered them an interesting supporting cast to help them fight for the title. Without forgetting that Ben Simmons is supposed to return at the start of the school year. There are a lot of uncertainties regarding the state of health of some and the state of mind of others but it is quite solid. Markieff Morris is experience (eleven NBA seasons), a little experience in the Playoffs (champion with the Lakers in 2020), versatility, someone who has already played (and shared a locker room) with stars and a tough player who will fight on the pitch. Unfortunately sometimes a little too much for his own good. Long injured following the confusion with Nikola Jokic, the player only returned at the end of the season and we did not even see him in the Playoffs with Miami… It will be interesting to see if he has recovered 100% , because Shams specifies that the medical visit is not yet carried out, and what will be his role within the rotation. Kevin Durant held position 4 last year, we should logically see Ben Simmons also held this role and Royce O’Neale arrived this summer. You will have to be convincing to go and scratch the minutes.

Champion with the Lakers two years ago and losing momentum since, Markieff Morris will try to revive in Brooklyn and seek a second career ring. Given the workforce that is starting to set up, it is not forbidden to dream.
