Mark Scheifele ready to fight with Jake Evans

The matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night will be the first meeting between the two teams that met in the second round of the last playoffs.

During the first of four games in this series swept by the CH, Manitoba club forward Mark Scheifele slyly hit Jake Evans following he scored the insurance goal in an empty net.

At a press conference, the Jets skater said he was ready to answer for his actions.

“If Jake Evans wants to fight with me, I will definitely answer the call,” he said.

Scheifele will likely be disappointed to learn that these are not the intentions of Evans, who has said he doesn’t want to be the center of attention.

“I don’t want to be a distraction and hurt our team’s success,” said the center, adding that the playoff victory was enough revenge.

Recall that Scheifele had missed all the other games once morest the Canadian in the summer of 2021, since he had been suspended four games for his unfair gesture.

For his part, CH interim head coach Martin St-Louis wants his club to focus on hockey once morest the Jets.

“I wasn’t there, but I saw what happened, he said during the press conferences that followed the morning training of his family. It’s been a year and we have to focus on playing hockey tonight.”

“Players have memory,” added St-Louis. There is always emotion in a match. I want us to start the game with the intention of playing hockey.
