UPDATE : Mark Jackson is more than ever the big favorite for the position of head coach of the Sacramento Kings. According to Marc Stein, the former NBA point guard and Warriors coach made a strong impression on owner Vivek Ranadive, who was present during his job interview this week.
The names of the other finalists have not been released, but it looks like Jackson’s return to the NBA is getting closer following 8 years without a bench and resuming his role as an ESPN consultant. In the place of Kings fans, we would not necessarily be reassured. Not especially when it comes to Jackson himself, as he’s already shown he’s capable of pushing a young and talented band forward, or his controversial personality. But rather because each time Vivek Ranadive has done interventionism, it has ended rather badly for the Kings, especially in terms of choice in the Draft.
We still hope that if Mark Jackson is chosen, it will also be because he was the No. 1 choice of Monte McNair, the General Manager.

01/05 : Mark Jackson hoped to make a return to the NBA for a long time. The former Golden State Warriors coach’s comeback may have never been closer. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Jackson is one of the finalists for the job in Sacramento and will speak with management to discuss a future with the Kings.
Consultant on ESPN since the Warriors sacked him in 2014, with the success that we know for the man who succeeded him, Mark Jackson has repeatedly mentioned his incomprehension of the fact that he was unable to have another chance in the league.
Other coaches are among the finalists chosen by General Manager Monte McNair, but the former New York and Indiana point guard is the favorite. The successful return of coaches like Monty Williams, Jason Kidd or even Tom Thibodeau probably gave ideas on the Sacramento side.
As a reminder, if Mark Jackson was mocked by a good part of the NBA, it is probably also for the rumors that circulated regarding his methods and his paranoia during his adventure in Golden State. His statements regarding Jason Collins when the latter came out in 2014 probably also played a role in the fact that few front offices seriously considered his case.
Mark Jackson has emerged as a finalist for the Sacramento Kings head coaching job, sources tell me and @sam_amick. Kings GM Monte McNair has begun to notify candidates whether they will move onto in-person meetings.

Why is Mark Jackson still a tricard in the NBA?
