Mark Harmon Passes the Torch: Austin Stowell to Star as Young Gibbs in Upcoming NCIS Prequel

He recalls the reaction of his colleague executive producer Gina Lucita Monreal when the actor presented himself. “I joked that Gina was swooning, but the truth is she really was. She can deny it, but that’s what she did”, the actor told USA TODAY. Moreover, his colleague reportedly stated when Austin Stowell exited the room: “Now, that guy is a star!”. Executive producer David North claims that he was the one who was mesmerized by the young actor.

The action of NCIS: Origins will take place about 12 years before NCIS, and will follow the young Gibbs as a newly arrived special agent at the Camp Pendleton office.
