Passing through Estrie, at the Bureau estrien de l’audiovisuel et du multimedia, commonly known as BEAM, the iconic rocker with a tender heart revisited some of her greatest hits, in the company of female artists and her great love and collaborator. (Raven), Jean Millaire.
Alternating between 1980s rock and folk acoustics, Marjo’s songs take on a different dimension in this holy place revamped into a recording studio, also convertible into a multimedia studio and film set. All the depth of his pen has also been highlighted in several issues.
Among the guests, Stéphanie Boulay, Lou-Adiane Cassidy and Salomé Leclerc united their voices and their guitar on “As long as there will be children”, while the actresses Marie Ève Morency (“Jowanne the shrink of the stars”) and Fabiola Nyrva Aladin (“Sans rendez-vous”) performed the karaoke classics “Provocante” and “Illegal” together.
Pilou, founder and creative director of BEAM and founder of Le Nid studio – whose voice we might hear in the first seasons of “La vrai nature” – offered Marjo a piano-voice version of his song “Je sais je know”, a love letter that the singer wrote to Jean Millaire, with whom she remained for 21 years.
The singer-songwriter, who has a career of more than 40 years, also performed “Wild Cats”, arranged with country accents, in duet with Guylaine Tanguay. A song she wrote while observing nature during a vacation in Rawdon, in Lanaudière.
Throughout the musical special, much is given to the impact Marjo has had in the lives of the various performers.
Under the musical direction Pascal Mailloux, “Marjo – Amoureuse” will be presented as part of the major cultural events, which, for the beginning of March, put women in the spotlight. The show will air Tuesday, March 8 at 8 p.m. on Télé-Québec.
This production by Jill Niquet-Joyal and Marie-Josée Proulx was produced by Productions Déferlantes.
