Mario Marcel would be Gabriel Boric’s finance minister

Mario Marcel, the current president of the Central Bank, suspended its activities until Monday, January 24. Among them was his participation in an MBA course at the Catholic University this Thursday, a meeting at the Treasury on Friday and a visit to the UK embassy on Monday 24.

According to people close to Marcel, he would have suspended the activities because would have been reported as a close contact. But nevertheless, DNA sources indicate that Marcel would be Gabriel Boric’s finance minister.

The new Secretary of State for the President-elect plans to announce his resignation from the Central Bank early this Friday.

What will happen in the Central Bank

In the event that Marcel leaves the position of president of the Central Bank, the appointment of his successor must be later. Therefore, this decision would remain in the hands of President Sebastián Piñera.
