The title has long been one of the best-selling video game titles of all time!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has once once more eclipsed all previous releases in terms of sales, as the title has sold 5 million copies in Japan alone. The title has sold over 50 million copies so far, making it one of the most successful video games of all time.

Big in Japan

With over 5 million units sold in Japan Mario Kart 8 Deluxe there Splatoon 3 or Pokémon Crimson and purple obsolete. Unbelievable how many Japanese Mario Kart love! So much that illegal Mario Kart race in Tokio had taken place and had to be prohibited by a court.

The sales numbers

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still sells. Despite his proud age of almost 9 years on the Wii U. However, the port on the Nintendo Switch with the Deluxe Version paid made. Mario Kart 8 / Deluxe belongs with over 55.6 million units sold (of which almost 8.5 million are the Wii U version) among the most successful video games of all time. More specifically, the title is the 7th best-selling video game. That’s very significant, because Mario Kart is an exclusive title of Nintendowhich therefore exclusively on Nintendo consoles can be found. Other titles on this leaderboard, such as GTA V or Minecraft are represented on several platforms.

New cups are still appearing for the title

Of course, the Booster Pass does its part. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will get a total of 48 new tracks via DLCs, half of which have already been released. The remaining 24 routes should be out by the end of 2023. Divided into six waves, the DLCs are for Nintendo Switch Online+ Expansion Pack members for free. For everyone else there is a one-off payment of 24.99 euros. That’s very fair for 48 tracks. Finally, we get double of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe missed because in the end you will have as many cups and routes as before. Basically you can do it as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2 consider. The cost of the DLC is half the price of Mario Kart 8, for which you get double the content. The DLCs of Wii U Incidentally, each with 8 routes cost 8.00 euros each or both in a set 11.00 euros.

When are the next routes coming?

The time between the first three waves was almost 4 months (March 18, August 4 and December 7). There are still 12 months left until the end of 2023. Each DLC comes with 2 new cups with 4 tracks each. So there are 24 tracks left, which means 3 more DLCs. Clearly, that still means a new one Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC every 4 months! Of course, that’s just an estimate, because Nintendo will release this DLC when Nintendo likes it or when the tracks are programmed. But so we should expect the next wave in April 2023! But enough speculation, we’re looking forward to hot races on the 8 new tracks that will be released on December 7th!
