Game news Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: New content and a date for the 2nd wave of DLC on Nintendo Switch!
Published on 07/28/2022 at 15:52
On February 10, Nintendo gamers held their breath when they saw Mario Kart appear during the Nintendo Direct. In the end, it was not a new opus, but a huge paid DLC containing 48 races, distributed in waves. The first wave arrived on March 18, but make way for the second!
Mario Kart 8, originally released on WiiU, is far from having given up. With a Deluxe version sold over 40 million copies worldwide on Switch and almost impossible to dislodge from the best physical sellers in France, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will continue to receive content until the end of 2023.
The second wave of additional circuits is coming!
In other words, Mario Kart 9, or Mario Kart 10 if we consider that Mario Kart Tour is the 9th opus, is not ready to be released. This content is part of Additional Circuits Pass, sold for €24.99 on the eShop or accessible via the Nintendo Switch Online subscription + Additional Pack. Last March, the first wave contained 8 circuits, from old opuses of the license, and distributed in two cuts.
The same pattern is naturally reproduced for the second wave, which will be available from August 4th. The players will therefore find two cups, Turnip and Helicopterwith 8 circuits to discover or rediscover, but beware, only 7 of them are from old games. Moreover, the leak that took place a few days ago was partly erroneous, since only three circuits are on the program of this second wave.
A completely new circuit unveiled!
In effect, the 8th integrated circuit is a completely new layout! Nobody expected it, Nintendo having hinted that the 48 circuits planned come from the old games. It is therefore a very pleasant surprise, especially for players who were hoping that the developers would take the opportunity to bring something new in addition to the HD redesign of the races. This new race is called Cité Sorbet and, as the name suggests, takes place in a colorful world filled with ice cream. This novelty is obviously widely promoted in the trailer, which however does not omit to present the other races.
Delicious turns and sweet surprises await you in the Cité sorbet, a brand new circuit available in the #MarioKart 8 Deluxe Additional Circuits Pass! With its many branches and vertiginous falls, the Cité sorbet is quite a piece. Slide through ice cream, climb mountains of sorbet, take turns as tight as an espresso to reach the frozen finish line!
