AMLO writes “Long live Zapata!” in ballot of revocation of mandate
As he had anticipated, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador wrote the legend “LONG LIVE ZAPATA!” in the ballot of the mandate revocation consultation.
Last Tuesday, at a morning press conference, the head of the federal Executive announced that this Sunday, April 10, he would participate in the citizen consultation, however, he indicated that he would not vote to have the mandate revoked, but instead, he would write in the ballot the phrase “Long live Emiliano Zapata!”, because this Sunday marks the 105th anniversary of the assassination of the revolutionary.
“On Sunday I am going to vote. At once I’m going to tell you that, well, I can’t vote for one thing or the other, but I do have to go vote because a Democrat always has to participate when it comes to making decisions; but as is my case…
“It’s like when I voted for president, because I voted for Monsiváis, for Elenita Poniatowska, for ‘Chema’ Pérez Gay, for Rodolfo Peña, I voted for them. Now I am going to vote, I am going to put my ballot ¡Viva Emiliano Zapata!, because it is April 10, ”he said.
